KikaFlikChallenge hand-eye coordination, timing, and ball control with the deceptively simply kickboard that launches a ball in the air with the stomp of a foot. The set was developed by a Scottish pediatric nurse and gymnastic coach who emphasized that children can easily learn balance and coordination while having fun. Roll the soft foam ball down the ramp and pop it up in the air with some fast foot action, then try to catch the ball or hit it with a baseball bat or tennis racket. The ball will travel over 20 feet in the air, depending on the strength of the foot pressure. The soft foam balls come in three different sizes and colors; children begin with the larger ball and as they become more coordinated and quicker, they can move to the smaller, more challenging sizes. Ages 3 to 7. Watch our Video - See KikaFlik in Action! (MPG Format for Windows Media Player) Develops coordination skills including balance, timing, stroke technique, bat, ball, and target skills. The strong flexible and unique construction allows KikaFlik to lift the ball as powerfully or gently as desired, and also to control the direction of the trajectory. It is the very strong yet flexible nature of the construction that gives KikaFlik its unique characterisics. It is also very safe, splinter free, and printed with non-toxic inks. How to use KikaFlik Place the ball and let it roll! Place the ball on the upper end of the board in the cut out channel and let it roll down. Preschoolers can simply place the ball in the channel at the low end. Stomp on the high end and watch the ball fly. Timing is everything. The closer the ball is to the end of the channel the higher it will go. Catch, hit, or kick the ball before it hits the ground. Use your hands or a mitt, a tennis racket or a baseball bat, your foot or your head. Just make contact with the ball! Great for Sports Practice! Baseball: KikaFlik is a great way for kids to practice catching with or without mitts. It improves their batting skills and can stand in for a pitcher. Tennis: KikaFlik is ideal for learning racket sports skills. Kids can practice forehand or backhand swings, even overhead smashes, alone or with friends. Soccer: KikaFlik makes it easy to practice. From kicking to trapping the ball, juggling to flicking it up to their heads, KikaFlik adds extra fun to soccer. Physics Lesson! How does it work? KikaFlik is essentially a lever, with the pivot positioned at approximately one-third of its length. When a large force is applied downwards on the short end of the lever, a force of half the strength is applied upwards at the other end. However, there is more to KikaFlik than that. It is not a simple solid mass lever. It is a complex construction of Northern European Birch Plywood which is strong, yet very flexible. When the force is applied downwards to the short end of the KikaFlik lever, the board flexes, and the energy which has been imparted to KikaFlik is then stored within it as potential energy. When the long end of the board then flexes upwards as a reaction to the downwards pressure on the short end, this potential energy is then transferred to the ball at the other end of the board as kinetic energy. If the mass of the ball is small, it will therefore have a large velocity.
